Sport as a Lifestyle: Fitness blogger Nino Goguadze’s (Ninikushka) tips

In this blog, Nino Goguadze shares her personal experience and tells us when and how she started an active sports lifestyle. Along with that, she also gives small tips for a better running and training experience.

Ninikushka first started running in 2013, and after a short break, she resumed again in 2015, adding gym workouts to her routine. For her, running and going to the gym are not just ordinary parts of the day - they represent inner discipline, self-care, and self-expression.

“My second big motivation was my husband - we were dating at the time, he was a rugby player, and his lifestyle inspired me to get into it as well.”

What helps you on days when you don’t feel like running?

“We’re not always motivated - nobody runs only because of motivation.” 

On such days, she remembers the sense of satisfaction that comes after finishing a run.

She runs for different purposes - sometimes preparing for Wings for Life World Run, sometimes for a half marathon, and often simply for enjoyment and relaxation, discovering new places along the way.

“Exercise completely changed my life - today my calendar is built around training.”

What do you listen to while running - music, podcasts, or do you prefer being alone with your thoughts?

“I don’t like running without music. I listen to completely different playlists - I don’t have one specific style, I just choose whatever motivates me.”

Running through city streets is her favorite route, as it gives her the opportunity to observe people along the way.

What is most important in running shoes - comfort, lightness, or stability?

For Nino, comfort is the most important feature in shoes. After that, she pays attention to the surface and distance she runs - whether she needs stability or cushioning. She also chooses her running clothes based on the environment and purpose: for a marathon, a colorful and distinctive style is important, while for everyday running, comfort is key.

What would you say to someone who wants to start running but keeps postponing it?

“The first step is always the hardest…” 

Nino advises that the most important thing is simply to start. Take the first step and don’t compare yourself to others, because what you see on social media is already someone else’s result. It doesn’t matter whether you run for 10 minutes or 10 kilometers - what matters is effort and consistency, and results will come gradually.

How is preparing for Wings for Life different from your usual running?

For Nino, and for many others, Wings for Life World Run is not just a race, because you are not running only for yourself. It brings together a greater purpose - raising funds for research to cure spinal cord injuries, uniting people around the world.

She approaches preparation with more responsibility, as this race has no finish line or required distance - Nino also enjoys the process itself.

The most important thing is not to experiment on race day: everything should be planned in advance - choose your rhythm and stick to your plan.
