Lost Danish Treasure – In childhood, almost everyone dreams of finding buried treasure. As we grow older, this dream slowly fades as we realize that Blackbeard the pirate hid nothing in our backyard. However, for some, the treasure hunt continues into adult life in various forms. Metal detectors and shovels may be replaced by online searches and library visits, but the thrill of the hunt remains alive and leads us forward.

"Lost Danish Treasure" tells two parallel stories: the first is the history of Finn Juhl's iconic "Chieftain Chair" and a long-forgotten drawing that preceded its creation; the second is the personal connection of a small group of researcher-collectors to this design. Although the events begin in different eras and times, as the book develops, these two lines intersect, and contemporary research helps us lift the veil on the secrets of the past. Each new chapter reveals more clues, bringing the stories closer together – until the summer of 2021, when lot #242 unexpectedly appeared at an auction in Chicago. The results of the subsequent analysis shed completely new light on the origin and authenticity of the very first "Chieftain Chair".
