How to Add Character to Your Easter Table: Salome Dadunashvili’s Tips | Dressup.ge
In this blog, interior designer Salome Dadunashvili shares how she refreshes the Easter table and what she recommends for bringing more beauty into everyday life through interior design.
When talking about beauty, Salome is reminded of her childhood. It was a time when she would walk through the streets of Old Tbilisi with her grandmother and, at dusk, look through illuminated windows and notice different details. Sometimes she would look at the ceiling, sometimes at a chandelier or a lamp, and sometimes at flowers and a cat sitting on a windowsill.
“...For me, the most important period in shaping my taste and preferences is probably childhood. The impressions I saw, heard, and gathered there...”
That is why Salome believes children should be given more freedom and encouraged to pay attention to beauty and detail. She thinks this matters both while traveling abroad and while exploring cities in Georgia. In her view, experiences like these help children later in life to receive a great deal of positive energy through their relationship with art.

How does your personality show itself in the space you create at home?
Salome chooses every item for the home with great care and precision. It is important to her that each new object blends harmoniously with what is already in the space and with those details that have stood the test of time and have been “living” in the home alongside her for years.
She also especially enjoys creating contrasts. That is why, when choosing an object or setting a festive table, she pays attention both to the character of the piece and to its colors. In her view, eccentric décor with a sense of humor gives an interior a distinctive character and is also a very effective way to create contrast.
“I love creating contrasts, and I love objects that carry a sense of humor and a bit of eccentricity. For example, I really love these penguin jugs, because anything that makes you smile when you interact with it and puts you in a good mood is a good object.”

According to Salome, a memorable and distinctive table can be created by combining contrasting colors in the tablecloth and the plates. Her main advice is not to be afraid of playing with color. For example, if you choose a boldly colored tablecloth, the plate can be simpler, so that the table feels visually balanced while still remaining interesting.
Spring Mood and Easter as a Time of Renewal
When she begins thinking about setting a festive table, the main starting point is often a particular mood and the season itself. For her, Easter is not only a religious holiday. It is also tied to spring, so she believes that the festive table should carry a sense of life, lightness, and renewal.
She most often creates this effect with flowers and wheatgrass. That is why, alongside eggs and Easter bread, she begins arranging the Easter table with flowers. Because she especially loves yellow flowers, she often decorates a spring table with daffodils and mimosa. As a final accent, she chooses a transparent vase. A vase like this allows her to place lemons, oranges, or mandarins inside and add even more bright, lively, and cheerful details to the festive table.
As Easter approaches, it becomes especially important to create a festive mood without making the space feel heavy or overcrowded. As Salome says, sometimes a single small object and a beautiful bouquet are enough to brighten the table.
When creating an elegant yet festive setting, our own mood also plays a decisive role. There is no need to overload the space in order to create a celebratory atmosphere.
“I am convinced that with the help of textiles, small decorative details, and tiny color accents, it is possible to change the atmosphere very significantly...”
Very often, it is precisely the small details that shape the character of the Easter table. A little color, fresh flowers, textiles, and carefully chosen décor are enough to bring the spirit of the holiday into the home in a refined and natural way.
