About the Artist:
Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) was born in Germany and studied medicine at the University of Berlin. He is often referred to as "the man who fused science with art". Haeckel dedicated his entire life to the study of flora and fauna – he not only discovered, described, and named thousands of new species, but also immortalized their forms through amazing illustrations. To this day, his work occupies a significant place in the history of both art and science.
