Product Description

Plugin House – An inspiring guide to innovative solutions aimed at addressing the acute housing problems in the world's densely populated urban zones.
This book is a manifesto for a new architectural era, offering innovative, sustainable, and community-oriented solutions to overcome the global housing crisis. Contrary to traditional architectural practices, the publication champions the idea of prefabricated (factory-built) homes as an affordable and practical way to combat homelessness, housing shortages, and gentrification. "Plugin House" serves as an exemplary model for small studios and independent builders worldwide, proposing an architectural revolution through houses that can be built quickly, with minimal tools and experience.

Details:
• The book presents various projects undertaken by the international architectural studio, People’s Architecture Office (PAO), brought to life through photographs taken in real-world settings
• Focusing primarily on projects located in China and the US, the publication highlights the common causes of the global housing crisis and transformative ideas that can be adapted in various parts of the world
• The essays included in the book discuss different aspects of the housing crisis with the participation of leading figures in art and architecture, while personal stories – each presented in the form of a mini-graphic novel – clearly demonstrate the barriers to affordable housing and the ways to overcome them
• Illustrated assembly instructions and a complete atlas of every "Plugin House" created to date describe their design and construction process in detail, making the book a visually striking call to action for architects and urban planning specialists
